On this episode of the One Piece Podcast, Ed hosts with guests Dominic from the Animanga Podcast, Stephen (One Piece translator for Weekly Shonen Jump), with special appearances by Firecrouch and Jose from the Toonami Faithful Podcast. I didn’t like One Piece in 2005 and I still don’t like it now. I wonder why tho. People worship this show and its EXTREMELY popular but I can’t get down with it.Before you write me nasty messages, I’m not hating on the anime i just don’t understand why it’s so popular.

Different strokes for different folks i suppose. I’m personally a huge fan, but i can see where it wouldn’t appeal to all i suppose. That said, if you saw the 4kids vkersion you where EXTREMELY cheated. 4kids is the version that orignally aired on Cartoon Network and it was extremely edited; to the point the series was entirely altered

We at FUNimation try to create new and exciting ways to get you all closer and more involved with the anime you love. We think this event might be our craziest yet.

With One Piece returning to Toonami this Saturday at 1:00 am ET, we wanted to do something over the top to celebrate its return.

So starting at 5pm CT today our ‘host with the most’ from The FUNimation Show, Scott Porter, will be locked in a room at the FUNimation office and will not be let back out until he has watched every episode of One Piece up to episode #207, where Toonami is starting off on Saturday.

Yes, that will take the rest of the week (until late Saturday actually). Yes, we know it’s insane - that’s why it’s awesome!!!

We will have a live stream over at our FUNimation Live YouTube page of Scott locked in the room watching One Piece going 24-hours a day. The camera will even be going when he sleeps*. He will be interacting with all of you via our the live stream chat and our other social sites.

There will also be a chance to win One Piece prizes throughout the broadcast, so be sure to stay tuned to FUNimation.com/news and all the FUNimation social sites for updates.

*We are letting him sleep (a little) during this event since otherwise this could kill him or at the very least mess him up so much that he won’t be able to tell the difference between a glass of water and a penguin.

The One Piece Podcast Goes to Japan

About the project:

The podcast will be heading to Japan to film a video documentary series for The One Piece Podcast starting August 5th. As part of the series we will have live video events, we hope to have video interviews, video tours of Japan, and cultural insights. Zach Logan will head to Japan with his audio equipment and video equipment to prepare both audio and video podcasts from the land where One Piece was born. We will visit One Piece events, exhibitions, One Piece bars, Shueisha, and more.

Our ultimate goal — to sit down with the editors or creator of One Piece.

Greg will also be joining us in Tokyo for the duration of trip! You will get to see everything we see. We will give you a perspective of Japan only we at The One Piece Podcast can. Here are just some of the events we’ll be visiting and reporting on:

Bandai Namco “Weekly Shonen Jump” Theme Park (Ikebukuro, Tokyo)
United States of Odaiba 2013 (Odaiba, Tokyo)
One Piece Grand Arena Tour (Shizuoka Twin Messe, Shizuoka)
One Piece Planetarium (Toshima-ku, Tokyo)
Universal Studios Japan (Sakurajima, Tokyo)

We will also have a series of interviews that we will announce when we have confirmation… with the ultimate goal of interviewing the creator, editors, and directors of the One Piece manga and the anime. Help us reach the goal we’ve set forth since we began this podcast.

We must to raise $7,000 to bring the podcast to Japan for approximately 5 days, enough time to get interviews, and explore the country’s culture and One Piece events and in an effort to reach the ultimate goal we set out when creating the podcast.
